Regarding the generation of the flood

-The verse refers to them as “just evil all day”.
-There are two sides good and evil.
-These manifest in every person.
-A person has to spend his whole life battling evil. Even if he has reached high levels and is at the end of his life he still must battle his evil inclination.
-The generation of the flood was not interested in this constant ongoing internal battle.
- They wanted to pick one of the two sides and give it complete authority over themselves. They chose the sitra acher (evil side) as it was much easier to attain.
-However even an evil person has a guilty conscious. The little good that remains is still fighting to make him repent.
-What they were trying to do was eradicate this totally.
-This required much work of trying to impurify themselves.
